Silverio
Flores
Jun 20, 1942 — May 18, 2026
Quincy
Silverio Flores Hernandez, 83, of Quincy, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on May 18, 2026. He was born on June 20, 1942, in Mercedes, Texas, to Aniceta Hernandez and Irineo Flores.
One of seven children, Silverio left school at a young age to help support his family. He traveled to "el norte," working in the cotton fields and harvesting other crops. In 1961, he met the love of his life, Susana Garcia. They were married in 1963 and made Quincy their home in 1965, where they raised six children and made community.
A dedicated and skilled farm laborer, Silverio worked for many local farmers over the years, including Jones, Kerr, and Boorman. He retired in his early sixties due to health-related issues.
Silverio was a man of strong values. He instilled in his children a deep work ethic, personal responsibility, and a commitment to supporting others. An avid reader, he also emphasized the importance of education and lifelong learning.
He found great joy in spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved watching westerns, wrestling, and the news, and was well known for having candy in his pocket, his signature whistle and "dad jokes". He will be dearly missed by all.
Silverio is survived by his beloved wife, Susana Flores; his daughters, Chio Flores (Randall Keeney) and Tina Flores-McCleese (Al McCleese); his sons, Silverio Flores (Velma), Omar Flores (Michelle), and Joe Flores; his siblings, Rosa Cavazos, Irineo Flores, and Lorenzo Flores; his grandchildren, Roy Echavarria, Gabriella Flores (Esteban Bastidas), Belen Flores (Jeremy Camarena), Alana Flores McCleese, and Lorenzo Flores McCleese; and his great-grandchildren, Elias and Genevi Bastidas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irineo and Aniceta Flores; his son, Roel Flores; and his siblings Santos, Arturo, and Jose Irineo.
