Soap Lake
Mrs. Patricia Ann Kallstrom, age 92, of Ephrata, WA passed away Thursday morning, January 30, 2025 at McKay Rehab Center in Soap Lake, WA.
Pat was born March 18, 1932 in Mount Vernon, WA to George and Hilda Kirn. She was preceeded in death by her parents and her only sibling, brother George Kirn who was 2 years older. He passed away in June 2008.
Pat grew up in Mount Vernon and was one of the busiest girls during her senior year at Mount Vernon High School. She was president of the Mount Vernon High School Girl's Club. She was a talented song leader, cheerleader and an accomplished tennis player. Pat was also 1 of 2 girls chosen to serve as a delegate to Girl's State, at Washington State College. Pat atttended the nursing program at Western Washington College in Bellingham, WA.
Pat married Glen on December 12, 1953 and they were married for 59 years before Glen passed away in Ephrata, WA on April 29, 2013. Pat and Glen began dairy farming in Mount Vernon, then dairy farmed in Port Orchard, WA for 9 years. They moved to Ephrata, WA and dairy farmed from 1969-2007 when the dairy was sold. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter: Mark, Heidi, Mike and Ted.
Pat was the bookkeeper for their farming operation. Additionally, she cooked tens of thousands of meals for her family and the farm laborers that lived on the farm. Pat and Glen hosted students for over 20 years with the Japanese Agricultural Training Program (JATP).
Pat was involved in the Block 71 Ladies Club for many years and even served as president. Her favorite past time was going to yard sales with friends and family, including taking many of her grandchildren with her. Pat and Glen supported their 15 grandchildren at music and ballet recitals, plays and a variety of sporting events.
Glen and Pat spent a lot of time at their Blue Lake Property with family and friends. Many Sunday afternoons in the summer were filled with Pat cooking her famous chicken, potato salad and chocolate cake. They especially enjoyed living at Blue Lake for several years after the dairy sold.
In Pat and Glen's retirement years, they enjoyed taking many roadtrips. Most of all, they loved spending time with their family. Our beautiful mother, mother-in-law, grandma, and great- grandma was known for being the kindest, most giving, supportive, and gentle soul, anyone could be blessed to know. Her optimism and joyful personality taught us about the importance of being appreciative of people, life, and our Lord. She was dearly loved.
